After a recent hip replacement, I connected with Dr. Melinda Hurt at Hurt & Co in Scarborough for Physical Therapy. I had previous experience with Melinda following 2 back surgeries. With a PhD and 14 years’ experience in Physical Therapy, she moved her practice to a new facility offering Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy, and a large Gym. The facility is bright and clean, with private rooms for therapy & massage, and Melinda is always on time with appointments. After 4 months of treatment and a home exercise and walking program, I am totally pain free for the first time in 10 years. I could not have achieved a pain free life without Melinda’s motivation and deep knowledge in her field. Melinda developed a therapy plan and continuously pushed me forward on the road to recovery. She developed a personalized and robust home exercise plan, which included both walking goals and exercises. I went from walking 5 minutes with a walker in my driveway, to 30 minutes within 4 months. My recovery included a 4-prong approach, with an hour of hands-on therapy with Melinda, a robust home exercise program, walking goals for weight bearing exercise, and use of the gym equipment for strength resistance training. What makes Hurt & Co stand out from other Practices, is that Melinda (and other Physical Therapists) spends a full hour with hands on treatment with each client. With most other Practices, the Physical Therapist usually spends 25-30 minutes with a client, then you work with a Physical Therapist Assistant or Aide to do exercises. This key difference is what makes Hurt & Co an exceptional value for your money. (No Insurance accepted).
